Hello there, and welcome to my quirky world of pottery.

I've been making funny, animal inspired pottery since the late 1990s.

Working from our cottage in rural Lincolnshire with my partner Hank and two cats called ChoccyBoy and Little Miss as helpful assistants.

My imagination is full of whimsical and funny animals, inspired by the surrounding countryside and the amazing natural world. 

I love making humorous creatures out of clay, the weird ones, the uglies and sometimes the completely fictional ones.

If I'm not in the workshop with a paintbrush in my hand and clay in my hair, I'll be in our cottage garden with the birds and snails as my companions. Oh and my cats.

Morning folks Yesterday's glaze reveal. Some sucesses...the elves, slugs, a blue experimental pot are definitely my favourites. But the other brown experimental pot didn't show up the brush strokes as I would have liked. So he'll go back in the kiln for another firing. That's what I love about pottery. Morning folks Yesterday was a glazing day. I love sitting in my little craft room painting and glazing as much pottery as I can find. Depending on what is going in the kiln, it usually takes me two days to fill the kiln. Then it's a seven and a half hour firing to 1030°C. The kiln will be cool enough to open later today. Morning folks, I sent a rare newsletter rambling email out yesterday. It's about the new website and my decision to remove Squarespace payments from my checkout. Well, the unfortunate thing is if you made an account on the website and saved your details, I'm not sure it will work at the checkout now since I've detatched from Squarespace payments. I have been using myself and my friend Helen as guinea pigs, and I believe I will need to delete your account. This will delete saved card and address details. You can then, of course, if you choose to, create a new account, save your payment, and address details once again. You can not delete your own account annoyingly. It's a terrible faff, I know, but this will give you control over your card details (add/remove, etc), which we didn't seem to have before. All the details about what to do are in the email. If you're on my mailing list, check your inbox or spam folder. If you didn't get the email message me and I'll send it out again. I've deleted a few accounts already from folks who emailed me. But I just wanted to announce it on here, too. Have a lovely Monday.
Morning folks The finishing touch to my pottery is sanding off the stilt marks on the base. So I bought a stiltstone from @cromartiehobbycraft . Never used one before. It's great for smoothing the little sharp blips of glaze. Not sure that it could remove a proper drippy drip. Morning folks, Well yesterday was a bit of a surprise. I've had a stressy week, including a minor alercation with a neighbour over who should have some furniture (daft, I know). Then the lovely Helen @crochetcrazyhelen went and bought me some drawers! My first attempt at proper flat pack furniture making. Only took the best part of a whole day 😆. Absolutely love them. Thanks so much Helen and Mark .xxx I will make up with my neighbour later.

Morning folks, It's been a minute since I was on the pottery wheel, and it's like I've forgotten everything! Guess I don't have the muscle memory yet. I did make a cow, donkeys, reindeer, and some seagulls, tho. Not on the wheel....by hand! Busy making week this week. I’ve recruited the assistance of a little helper. Morning folks I think I've found an answer to why the saved cards failed on my website. A massive heartfelt apology from me, to those who followed my instructions and made an account for my shop drop and then failed to purchase what you wanted. It's been a tough week trying to research this. I felt like I must have done something wrong, or my account been hacked. 😬 Because I couldn't understand why account holders were getting their orders bounced. When I made the website, Squarespace didn't fully authorise the connection between my website and my payment provider. To stop fraudsters. All my payments (except PayPal) are frozen in this time. So when you try and use a card saved in my store. It won't work....yet. I didn't know this. When I had a call from my payment provider in San Fransisco, she didn't know this either. It was only talking to Helen @crochetcrazyhelen yesterday and explaining it all to her, that we sussed it out. The mystery has been solved...although I still haven't had a reply from Squarespace, which is bad, but I love my new website too much to get upset by that. It's good to know that it's security and not a mistake I've made that's the reason behind it. I'm just terribly sorry I didn't know it sooner and upset people on launch day. . . . #pottery #website #mystery #solved
